Great Recipes Tried and Tweaked

There are so many incredible recipes out there- I test them in my own home and tell you what works, what doesn’t and what tweaks I recommend.

My name is Flannery. I was born and raised in the theater world of New York City. Meals were always a time for my family to come together- they were moments of shared experience no matter if we were in a restaurant or at home. When we would go visit my grandparents in Massachusetts, meals became an important part of learning about my family history from the Russian shtettles to the Lower East Side during the Great Depression, to the musical theater world of the 1960’s and ‘70’s.

I was a very picky eater as a child, but as I got older, my love of different types of food grew. It wasn’t until my junior year of undergrad- when a friend of mine introduced me to the wonders of Williams Sonoma- that I began my love affair with cooking and cooking tools. I worked in restaurants in New York City and San Francisco for roughly 15 years as a host, server, bar tender as well as working in private events and catering. It was here that I truly developed a love of exploring ingredients and getting creative based on what foods were immediately available.

During COVID, as I’m sure many others did as well, I got very interested on what it might be like to make as many different foods from scratch as I could. It was during lockdown that I learned how to make pizza dough, pasta, bread, yeast, ice cream and many other things from scratch.

I look forward to sharing with you all of the recipes and tips and tricks I have learned throughout the years!
